Sarah Hinton

Meet Sarah, CEO Charity Lead

Sarah started  Shine with a few others in a very small way in 2010, as a response of St Stephen’s Church to the needs of the community in the area of West Bowling where she lives. She has overseen the development of Shine over the years, leaving Health Visiting in 2016 to fully concentrate on leading the charity.

Prior to moving to West Bowling in 2005 Sarah worked in Zimbabwe as a Nurse and a Health Visitor, establishing a charity for those with or affected by HIV. This charity, Kubatana, still works in an area of Manicaland today.

Sarah sits on the Board of a number of other voluntary organisations including Home Start Bradford District, Bradford Trident and Better Start Bradford. She is increasingly asked to speak or advise on the establishment of grassroots charities, particularly those connected to churches.

Sarah is married to Jimmy, the vicar of St Stephen’s and St Matthew’s and has three adult children. She now keeps her home full with lodgers and animals!
